Survey:Two in Three Job
Seekers Find Work Via Contacts and Web Sites
Of nearly 100 job seekers
who responded to the LatPro-NSHP study, 38% said they’d
found work through personal contacts, while 26% said the
Internet was their pipeline to a position. Job boards
are an increasingly important method of seeking
employment because they give job seekers access to huge
volumes of information quickly. But, the survey
highlights that personal touch is still an effective way
of tracking down opportunities. “Job boards have changed
the way people look for work but smart job seekers know
not to rely on them exclusively,” said Eric Shannon, the
founder of LatPro and a keen observer of hiring trends.
“It’s often daily interaction with people that produces
great job leads.”

Complaints of discrimination mount
against worlds largest temporary staffing agency -
Manpower, Inc.
The worlds largest temporary
staffing agency, Manpower Inc. has been accused of sex,
religious, disability discrimination and retaliation
from 2000-2002. In two similar circumstance complaints
to the EEOC placed within the past two years Manpower
has been accused of manipulating the actual date of
discrimination in two EEOC cases so that they were time
barred and they dismiss allegations of retaliation by
former employees. In both cases the employees were
dismissed from the local agency with the backing of the
corporate office in Milwaukee Wis.

Employment Market’s
Growth Rate Expected To Inch Down
ExecuNet’s Recruiter
Confidence Index, which surged last month, dropped in
July. The recent survey of 181 executive recruiters
conducted by ExecuNet, a leader in executive-level job
and networking opportunities, reveals that after months
of impressive job growth, search firms are expecting the
employment market will add executive-level jobs at a
slightly slower pace during the second half of the year.
According to the survey, 57% of recruiters report
that business conditions in the executive search
industry improved in the past 30 days and 54% are
confident or very confident the executive employment
market will improve during the next six months - down
from 63% in June.
