human resource (HR) professionals agree that they are
able to focus on core business functions when some HR
responsibilities are outsourced. In addition, more than
half of HR professionals report outsourcing some HR
functions helps save money and control legal risks,
according to the 2004 Society for Human Resource
Management (SHRM) Human Resource Outsourcing Survey.

Areas of job growth in the
month of June
The health care and social services industries continued
to add jobs, growing by an overall 30,000 in June.
Employment in professional and technical services rose
by 23,000, led by continued gains in temporary
employment firms. Temp firms have added 306,000 new jobs
since April 2003. Transportation and warehousing
companies added 19,000 last month. In retail, clothing
stores continued to hire, but home improvement and
garden supply stores did not. Neither did car dealers
and auto parts stores. The nation's factories took a hit
last month, with employment falling by 11,000 after an
increase of 75,000 in the previous four months. Hiring
was flat at construction companies, and fell in
government.

their annual study examining Fortune 500 job sites under
the premise that

CareerXroads enlisted the assistance of 25 out-of-work

Companies to Work For. The results of this “mystery
shopping” certainly add depth to the review. “A
corporate website needs to be recognized as the all
important first impression for people you’re trying to
attract as future employees,” notes Mark Mehler,
principal of CareerXroads. “If we were to visit your
site as part of this study would we know who you want to
hire? Would we know why candidates would choose you?”
